Deconstructing Chivas with three Single Malts from Speyside!
1. Glen Grant 1995 23 year old by the Ultimate: 49.3% A very rare opportunity to try single cask Glen Grant, by the guys at Van Wees in the Netherlands. Matured in a Bourbon cask for 23 years this spirit is soft creamy and elegant!
2. SMWS 113.19 “Thyme for a Banana” 7 year old: 62.2% A fun single cask by the SMWS of Braeval (Braes of Glenlivet) spirit. Attractive aromas of dried flowers and lavender joined with rosemary and thyme on roasted parsnips. Soft fruit jelly sweets mixed with apple and pear tarts on a palate that embraced the sweet spice of chili jam and camphor. Then came the distinctive character of ripe bananas baked with milk chocolate and a sprinkling of cocoa powder.
3. Aberlour 14 year old Distillery Exclusive cask #96367: 56.5% This unusual 14 year old cask was selected for the Chivas Bros. Distillery Exclusive range, and was matured in a first fill Sherry butt for the entire 14 years. An absolute belter!
