Just outside Elgin lies the Benriach distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland. The spirit from Benriach is full of tropical fruit notes unlike any other distillery in Scotland. When treated the right way it’s like pineapple and kiwi fruit salad. This bottling was finished for 12 months in a 1st fill P.X. butt, giving it a grape-y sweetness.

Nose: Caramel and tin peaches in condensed milk. After some time in the glass, we are taken to a fruit orchard with combination of wood spices and ripe yellow fruit.

Palate: Eating a caramel soft serve on a wooden pier. Baked Brown pear pie with soft cinnamon and brown sugar sprinkled over the top.
Finish: Baked spices and cold mulled wine.

Founded by Fabio Rossi, the grandson of the Venetian edible oil and wine merchant Giuseppi Rossi, Wilson & Morgan have earned their place in whisky fame. Following the golden rule, “Trust your palate and your instincts”, Wilson & Morgan have had the opportunity to bottle some wildly rare casks from some of Scotlands more elusive distilleries, including Port Ellen, Brora and Macallan. Fabio Rossi was also instrumental in the use of Sicilian Marsala wine casks in finishing whisky. In 2002 he bottled a Longmorn, finished in Marsala casks, which he then presented to author Michael Jackson, who dubbed Fabio as “The Tailor of Whisky”.
