The BenRiach distillery is in the heart of Speyside near the town of Elgin. The distillery spent most of it’s life producing single malts for blends but more recently being acquired by Brown Forman, the distillery has had a very strong presence with it’s sherry and wine cask examples.
Nose: Raisin toast with lots of salted butter, liqueur chocolates and sticky fortified. Savoury and meaty.
Palate: Big powerful oak characters of dark chocolate and liquorice bark. Takes a good lick of water, which breaks up the tannins and pepper steak character.
Finish: A bruiser of a dram, perfect for a cigar. The dram to finish your night on with it’s aperitif like dry finish.
