From the “Highproof version” of Hidden Spirits Independent bottling range, meaning these bottlings are at natural cask strength.
Ardmore’s whiskies have a unique peatiness about them that isn’t earthy or medicinal like an Islay malt. The smoke is more aromatic and akin to a wood smoke.
Nose: Give it time to air in the glass and be rewarded with aromas of sherbet lollies and fresh laundry on the line. Honey O’s and BBQ coals. Shortbread and a pipe before bed.
Palate: Chewy texture and a broad intense peatiness. Straw bales and shortcrust pastry along with smoked brisket and a hint of band aids.
Finish: Minerals and campfire. Hot rocks and cereal with hot milk. The Lochindaal cask has given the peatiness an extra kick to be sure.
