Aberfeldy 11 year old ex-Bourbon cask by Hidden Spirits 53.3% 700ml

Aberfeldy, sitting high above the heart of the Highlands of Scotland, produces a lovely sweet spirit, which is produced by it long fermentation and slow distillation. It is because of this dense, almost waxy spirit, that it is prized by blenders and forms the base of the Dewars blends.

Nose: Watermelon lollies and lime jelly flow from the glass as soon we started pouring. After a while in the glass it opens to smashed banana on toast and fresh papaya.
Palate: Fruit deserts everywhere! Pears and cream, apples and custard which is followed by Turkish delight and fig leaves. On the Mid palate a load of dry oak spice, making it very moorish.
Finish: Very reminiscent of walking through Carlton gardens in Autumn, leaves everywhere. A soft lemon zest note follows.

Hidden Spirits is a young Italian independent bottler, based in Ferrara, that was founded in 2013 by Andrea Ferrari, an enthusiastic whisky collector and blogger. Before founding the company, Andrea would travel to Scotland to visit distilleries, where he created close relationships, which allowed him to source casks directly from the source, rather than brokers. Each cask is meticulously selected, and labeled with an artwork depicting scenery from the surrounding area of the distillery, produced by Italian artists.
