Fleurieu single cask exclusive to Whisky & Alement

Specially selected for the Australian Whisky Masterclass

Fleurieu distillery is quickly becoming one of Australia’s most well revered whisky producers, and that’s exactly why we took some time off to head to Goolwa and visit distillers Angela and Gareth Andrews in May to select our very own single cask.

To select this single cask we tasted through thirteen samples from both Apera and Tawny casks, with our top pick resulting in a single ex Seppeltsfield Tawny cask. The cask was treated with a heavy char by S.A. Cooperage and produced from 100% South Australian grown Commander barley malted by Joe White to Traditional ale malt specs.

The Australian Whisky Masterclass is a mainstay at Whisky & Alement and we needed just the perfect bottling to properly depict the “Australian Flavour”.

It had to be an ex – fortified cask with a big oily mouth feel and savoury character. The ever fantastic Gareth and Angela were only too happy to oblige and we’re stoked with the result!

Tasting Notes:

Liquidised Christmas lunch! Soy sauce, chewy Werthers, ginger snap biscuits, Gravox, brandy custard, lamb drippings, milky black tea, salted croissants, Luxardo cherries, caramelised orange.
